Spend some time designing a website, working with local churches, maintaining an old building, ministering to the homeless, proclaiming the gospel, playing sports with locals, or doing one of hundreds of other jobs alongside YWAM’s full-time staff.
For individuals, YWAM’s Mission Builders ministry specializes in helping people volunteer with YWAM. Alternatively, you can contact a location directly to find how you can serve.
For groups, you can come as a family with children, as a church group, youth group, or outreach as part of a YWAM school based in a different country. Please contact specific locations in Japan about possibilities.
Opportunities for after you have done a Discipleship Training school, a core training of YWAM.
Whatever way you want to serve God, you can most likely do it in YWAM! Being on staff with YWAM is an adventure in faith. Join staff for a couple of years, or stay for life.
In many of our locations, one of the joys of joining staff is to serve side by side with people from a variety of nations. Our staff come from numerous different Christian denominations and nearly half of our staff come from Non-Western countries, such as Brazil, South Korea, Indonesia, India and Nepal.
Here are a few of the many staff openings in YWAM:
YWAM does not pay its staff. Most of our staff meet their financial needs by partnering with friends and churches who support their ministry. In some areas, our staff work in other businesses for financial, practical or ministry reasons.
To join YWAM staff you first need to complete a Discipleship Training School (DTS). DTS is the prerequisite to all our other training and opportunities and is offered at over 600 locations around the world.

YWAM offers everything from one-day seminars to University of the Nations degrees. Learn the Bible, counselling, performing arts, healthcare, missions, and much more. YWAM courses, often called “schools,” combine theory with practical application. They usually last between three and nine months. To find schools in Japan, please click the following link.
Sorry, there are currently no UofN courses in Japan. Check back later.
Note: For most YWAM training programs including seminars, a Discipleship Training School (YWAM DTS) is a prerequisite.
